We had the pleasure of a visit from Mr Doug Irvine (1958) on Tuesday afternoon.
Doug joined us for a coffee and a chat about his days at Heriot's while he was in Scotland for a trip with his son. Having been a pupil for 13 years he had many memories to share and fond stories to tell. Doug recalled teachers who made an impact such Fabian McColl, (Latin) Mr Brown (Mathematics), 'Bouncer' Stott (English), and Mr Paterson (Rowing), to name but a few. He had many more to share.
After moving to the states in 1966 Doug still holds Edinburgh and Heriot's close and went away with his own copy of 'Memories of Heriot's' to read the recollections of others.
Doug is keen to hear from others FP's of his era and would happily meet in Seattle or have a conversation by email, just get in touch with the development team if you remember Doug and would like to get in touch.
If you are a Former Pupil or indeed a Former Teacher, and would like to join us at the school, please let us know and we can happily make the arrangements.
