The Modern Languages department is interested in setting up a ‘Languages and Employability’ partnership programme, to give pupils a “real life context” for how they may be able to utilise their language skills in their future career.
In the first instance, the Modern Languages department is simply looking to find out where languages are used, and in what way.
Further down the line, the Modern Languages department would like to source potential partners to develop a project which will bring skills for life and work into context. This may, for example, involve a business or organisation sending a representative to the school to discuss the importance of languages to their job. In collaboration with the professionals, it may also involve the creation of a series of lessons for pupils to complete, including a variety of authentic tasks similar in style to those carried out by the professionals.
If languages are used in your place of work, and you would be interested in collaborating with us, please send an email to Hilary Davies by Friday 18 November at: had@george-heriots.com
