Decades of Blazers Leave Their Mark in the Quad

Blazer Marks in the Wall of the Quad
Blazer Marks in the Wall of the Quad

It seems every time we have former pupils in to visit, we hear new stories of Heriot’s history, and last week’s visit from members of the class of 1973 was no exception!

Former Pupil Scott Williamson (1973) told of how the walls of the Quad, leading to where the old Refectory would have been, are polished navy from decades of school blazers, as pupils slouched along the wall whilst queuing for lunch. And sure enough, upon closer inspection, it can be seen that indeed the walls still hold their delightful shoulder height navy hue!

We are always keen to hear more stories of Heriot’s and welcome visits from Former Pupils. To arrange a visit, please get in touch with the Development Team on dev@george-heriots.com or by calling us on 0131 221 6716.
