It was with sadness we were informed of the passing of Former Pupil, and Former Music Teacher Mr John Mitchell Walker (1952) on the 13 March 2024. 

After his teacher training at Moray House College of Education and following his first teaching role at Kirkcudbright Academy, John returned to Heriot's for 4 years. In 1962 John went on to be appointed as Principal Teacher of Music at Dumfries Academy, where he happily remained for 25 years. 

Beloved husband of Shirley, father of Mandy and David, and grandfather of Kate, Scott, Kim, Tom, and Anna.
