Obituary - R.S (Bobby) Meikle (1964) 

We are saddened by the news of the passing of Bobby Meikle on the 10 July 2024. Friends of Bobby's who he had kept in close contact with since his school days in the 1960's are keen for us to let the wider community know. 

Bobby, along with others, was part of a small group known as 'The Toenails' who played rugby together in the sixties and have been meeting annually since 1962. 

Tony Hogarth, (1963) sent this short quote that he remembers from the early days. 

'He was an outstanding open side wing forward' with one commentator on a 1961 match against Newcastle R.G.S saying, ' Heriot's three back-row forwards, R. Meikle, Walker and Milne were in a class by themselves.'
