World Solo Drumming Championships 2024

Fifteen of our finest drummers were selected to compete at the World Solo Drumming Championships, which took place at Glasgow Caledonian University on 19th October. All of the pupils put a great effort into preparing for this prestigious event and gave a very good account of themselves on the day. Big congratulations to the four pupils listed below, who all featured in the top 6 in their age category (see images in the below gallery):

Tiffany (S3)                           2nd Prize               Section C – U. 14 March. Strathspey and Reel (Tenor)

Jared (S4)                            2nd Prize               Section 2 – 15-17 March (Snare)

Dylan (S6)                            3rd Prize                Section 5 – 14-15 March, Strathspey, Reel (Snare)

Ga (S3)                                5th Prize                Section 3 – U. 14 March (Snare)

Other Heriot’s drummers who also performed well on the day were Anna (S2), Finlay  (S4), Harrison (S4), Isabella (S6), Jonathan (S6), Lauren (S5), Magnus (S4), Naomi (S5), Oliver (S6), Ryan  (S4) and Tom (S5) – Heriot’s biggest representation at this event to date.

The drummers were expertly accompanied by our fantastic pipers Henry (S6), Ranulph (S4), Rory (S4), Thomas (S4) and Ursula (S3), who all gave up their free time to rehearse with the drummers over the last few months, including throughout the October break – a truly fantastic effort. Thank you.
