As part of the Kenyan Expedition pupils are asked to raise funds which will go directly to the communities in Kenya that George Heriot’s School supports. This is not just the schools we work with but the wider community as well. Previously the pupils have managed to support with midwife cycling packages, sewing machines and re-useable sanitary products, water collection butts, solar lighting, and residential places for pupils with severe learning difficulties. These support mechanisms are looked at in the long term and are designed to be sustainable.
As such this year’s expedition have a target of fund raising that they would like to meet to enable this support to continue. To enable this to happen two pupils have asked their families to help in organising a wine and cheese fair for the Heriot’s community, their families, and friends. This is an opportunity for the parents, guardians, friends and the wider Heriot’s community to have a social, something that we feel has been missing in the last few years.
We do hope that you will be able to support this fantastic cause.
